A Brief History of Essential Oils

Aromatic plant oils are used in a variety ways such as food preparation, religious ceremonies, skin care, and for perfumes.  Plants, roots, flowers, and trees have been used for thousands of years for their medicinal properties; in fact, they are the root of today's pharmaceuticals.

The earliest essential oils usage dates back to as early 3000-2500 B.C

Many believe that the Egyptians were the first to use oil extracts for physical wellbeing, spiritual connections, skin care, and culinary uses, but there is evidence that India and China also were using essential oil-like extracts during the same time.   Some even believe that India was utilizing essential oils much earlier then the Egyptians.

Since the beginning of recorded history (and probably much earlier), plants have provided powerful extracts for medicinal, spiritual, therapeutic and skin enhancing values.
